A father-son Islamic outdoor leadership academy for boys ages 6+ and their fathers or guardians. The academy develops boys through deen, character, outdoor competence, fitness, brotherhood, medical readiness, and service.
Father or guardian participation is preferred at most events and may be required for younger participants, campouts, and higher-risk activities. The academy is built around fathers and sons growing together, side by side.
Mothers and female guardians are welcome on the application and may participate where appropriate. Field activities that are male-only follow a clear adab structure for those reasons.
Every activity is sorted into a risk level (green, blue, yellow, red) with clear supervision, age limits, and rules. Higher-risk activities require qualified instructors, special consent, and adult/guardian participation. See the Safety page.
These are taught as discipline, not play, with qualified supervision, posted rules, and PPE where required. No unsupervised high-risk activity. Firearm and hunting education is restricted to legal, certified, adult-supervised pathways.
Our application includes a medical intake covering allergies, asthma, seizure history, medications, and physical limitations. The founder is an emergency medicine trained physician. Activities are adjusted to the participant. In an emergency, we call 911.
Our workshops are educational. We use language like awareness, readiness, and education. Formal certification is only provided when a class is delivered through an authorized certifying body. We are clear about that line.
Two simple, all-inclusive options. Full Membership is $100 per month and covers a father and one son until the event series is complete. Each additional son from the same family is +$25 per month. The Day Pass is $125 per academy day for a father and one son, with each additional family member +$50 per person. Both cover food and beverages, all materials and equipment, and a takeaway gift, gadget, or learning tool at every event.
Sons of Sunnah is mission-driven. Every dollar goes toward the gear, meals, equipment, and materials that make the academy possible, and toward supporting and growing the Academy. It is an investment in your son and our community, not a profit margin.
No. Acceptance is subject to application review, family fit, safety screening, capacity, and program readiness.
Everything. Every session in the series (each at least 3 hours), food and beverages at every event, all materials and equipment, and a takeaway at each event. Full Members also receive the Sons of Sunnah Gear Kit to keep, plus merit badge progression and priority on campouts and special events.
A complete kit included with every Full Membership, yours to keep: a branded Sons of Sunnah backpack loaded with camping, fire, safety, first-aid, shelter, fishing, and foraging equipment, plus two matching apparel sets (t-shirt, pants, and shorts), one for the father and one for the son.
Our first cohort of families, the families that help shape the academy as it launches. Founding members receive priority registration, recognition, and a direct line into program design.
A monthly session anchors the program with a structured father-son circle, an outdoor or workshop block, a fitness block, and a service or reflection close. Campouts and special events sit on top of that monthly rhythm.
Boys 6 and older. Older youth (12+, 14+) unlock additional badges and advanced workshops with appropriate supervision.
